Democratic Party of Georgia Statement on May Jobs Report

Today’s new jobs report shows that the U.S. economy added 390,000 new jobs in May, higher than predictions expected. This report follows over a year of record job growth and low unemployment rates in Georgia and across the country thanks in large part to President Biden and Democrats’ leadership. In response, Rebecca Galanti, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Georgia released the following statement:

“Today’s jobs report is more proof President Biden’s economic agenda is working. This growth wasn’t an accident – it is the result of an agenda focused on growing our economy from the middle out, powered by the American Rescue Plan. This historically fast recovery has been spurred by the work of Georgia Democrats, who were crucial in passing the American Rescue Plan despite every Georgia congressional Republican voting against it. 

“While Georgia Democrats and President Biden prioritize lowering costs and addressing other challenges our economy still faces, Republicans have put forward a very different plan: one which could raise taxes on the middle class and jeopardize Georgia seniors’ health care and retirement benefits. Georgia Democrats know voters can’t afford that disastrous agenda, and we’ll continue fighting to put more money in the pockets of hardworking Georgians.”
