Democracy is on the line in November

Today, DPG Chair Congresswoman Nikema Williams released the following statement:

“Here are the facts: Donald Trump inspired a violent mob to attack our nation’s capitol on January 6. I was there. He attempted to subvert the results of a free and fair election and overturn the will of Georgia voters. Since then, he has only become more dangerous, promising to be a dictator on ‘day one’ if he returns to the White House, and warning of a ‘bloodbath’ if he loses. Trump is willing to do anything in his quest for revenge and retribution – and the Supreme Court just made it even easier for him to pursue his path to a Trump dictatorship.

“The choice is clear: Donald Trump is an existential threat to democracy and our country. Georgians have already rejected Donald Trump’s self-obsessed quest for power and sent President Biden to the White House – and we will do it again in November.”

Donald Trump already attacked our democracy and Georgians’ rights. Make no mistake: democracy is on the ballot this November:

  • After inspiring a violent mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6, Trump has pledged to pardon the rioters who wanted to end American democracy.
  • Donald Trump’s Project 2025 is also crafting plans that would allow him to deploy the military against American citizens under the Insurrection Act.
  • Trump has floated the idea of running for a third term
  • Trump is warning of a “bloodbath” if he loses in November.
