Brian Kemp, Come Get Your GOP

Yesterday’s congressional hearing on the January 6 Republican-led insurrection on the U.S. Capitol revealed just how far from reality the Georgia GOP has strayed – shamelessly lying to the entire nation about a deadly attempt to overturn America’s free and fair election system. 

Rep. Jody Hice claimed the insurrectionists were the real victims of the January 6 riot to overthrow the government. He was also at the vile pre-insurrection planning meeting at the White House in December.

Rep. Andrew Clyde claimed there was no insurrection, likening the rioters who stormed the Capitol to tourists. He then ran away from reporters asking him to clarify his comments.

“This repulsive, dangerous revisionist history has absolutely no place in Georgia politics. Violent rioters stormed the Capitol, breaking in through windows. Police officers were attacked. Crowds brought a noose and threatened to hang Vice President Mike Pence if they found him. Five people died,” said Scott Hogan, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “But while Georgia Republicans keep spreading vile falsehoods, Brian Kemp and other Georgia GOP leaders are silent. Will they denounce Jody Hice and Andrew Clyde’s lies, or continue to let extremism take over their party?”
