Help Move Georgia Forward
Walker: “There’s Not A National Ban On Abortion Right Now And I Think That’s A Problem”
Senate Republicans have made it clear that their top priority if they take the Senate is passing legislation to ban abortions across the country, and GOP Senate candidate Herschel Walker would be in lockstep with them. Walker wants to make abortion totally illegal nationwide — telling reporters in July that “there’s not a national ban on abortion right now and I think that’s a problem.”
Walker doesn’t support exceptions in cases of rape, incest, or even to save the life of the mother — saying, there’s “no exception in [his] mind.” It’s yet another reason Walker is wrong for Georgia.
11 Alive Anchor: This week’s court decision legalizing the heartbeat bill brings into focus the contrasting positions of the two major candidates running for U.S. Senate.
Doug Richards: When we caught up with Walker Wednesday morning at a livestock barn in Athens, it was just a few hours before a federal court allowed Georgia to enact its controversial heartbeat bill, which bans abortions after only six weeks gestation. Walker was asked about the U.S. Senate potentially voting on a national ban on abortion. And he answered by saying the absence of such a ban is “a problem.”
Herschel Walker: There’s not a national ban on abortion right now, and I think that’s a problem.
