Republicans’ toxic health care agenda includes ripping away protections and undermining coverage for nearly 2 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions
ATLANTA — With Washington Republicans again scrambling to cover for their reckless record and broken promises on health care, the Democratic Party of Georgia is ready to remind Georgians of Senator David Perdue’s history of fighting to gut the health care law and rip away critical health care protections for millions, including nearly 2 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions.
In addition to his numerous votes to repeal the health care law and undermine protections for Georgians with pre-existing conditions while raising costs and worsening coverage, Perdue also “of course” supports a lawsuit that would completely overturn the law and all of its crucial health care safeguards.
What does Senator Perdue’s preferred outcome look like?
- One million Georgians would lose their health care coverage.
- Over 1.8 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions could see massive price increases and lose access to care.
- Georgians 26 and younger could be kicked off their families’ coverage.
- Essential benefits coverage ranging from maternity care to basic prescription drugs could be gone.
No matter what Republicans say, Georgians know that Perdue’s toxic health care agenda would be a disaster for Georgia families who rely on the law to get coverage. But even given these enormous costs for Georgians, Perdue still remains committed to his partisan crusade to rip away critical health care protections from millions.
“Senator David Perdue’s disastrous record trying to gut protections for Georgians with pre-existing conditions speaks for itself,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Every time he’s had the chance, Perdue has voted for and supported efforts to undermine the health care law and rip away coverage protections from Georgia families, no matter what he says after the fact.”
