Help Move Georgia Forward
After repeatedly voting for Republican plans to increase costs and backing a dangerous lawsuit to dismantle the health care law, Perdue continues to try to undermine coverage protections
Atlanta — Today, Senator David Perdue once again turned his back on Georgia families and voted to uphold new rules undermining health care protections for millions. His vote would let big insurance companies flood states including Georgia with junk health care plans that offer little coverage and aren’t required to include protections for those with pre-existing conditions.
Since his first campaign in 2014, Perdue has enthusiastically supported the Republican health care agenda in Washington that would rip care away from 22 million Americans — including more than 720,000 Georgians.
Senator Perdue’s harmful plan for Georgians’ health care includes:
Even worse: Perdue still backs a dangerous federal lawsuit trying to completely dismantle the health care law, saying that he “of course” supports litigation that would do through the courts what Republicans couldn’t pass through Congress. That lawsuit would rip health care away from millions and throw the entire system into chaos — which is why other Senate Republicans refuse to support it.
With a record like this, it’s clear where David Perdue stands: he’ll never stop fighting to take away access to health care and end coverage protections for pre-existing conditions, no matter how many Georgians it hurts.
“Senator Perdue’s vote today is yet another example of how he continues to put his special interest agenda ahead of what’s best for Georgia families — especially Georgians with pre-existing conditions,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Between his repeated votes to gut the health care law and his unequivocal support for a dangerous lawsuit that would spike costs and throw millions off their insurance, time and time again Senator Perdue shows that he’s more interested in scoring partisan political points in Washington than helping everyday Georgians.”
