ATLANTA — In a new ad, Senator David Perdue claimed he was “outraged at how our military was being disrespected,” but nearly a week after reports that President Trump flagrantly disrespected our troops, calling those who died in war “losers” and “suckers,” Perdue has stayed silent and refused to stand up for veterans and military families.

This isn’t the first time that Senator Perdue has let down Georgia’s military community. Earlier this year, news reports uncovered that Perdue skipped a key Senate hearing on poor housing conditions facing military families like those at Georgia’s Ft. Benning to attend a private meeting with high-dollar donors known as his “Boardroom,” a scheme in which Perdue advertises “significant access” like meetings and retreats on the private island where he lives to his special interest and corporate PAC donors.

“If Senator Perdue actually cared about our service members and veterans, he’d be willing to stand up to President Trump’s gross disrespect of those who’ve given the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our freedoms, ” said Braxton Brewington, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Perdue’s cowardly silence in the face of Trump’s offensive and insulting comments towards our troops speaks louder than his empty words in another desperate ad that won’t fool Georgians.”
