With over 30 million unemployed nationwide, Loeffler’s husband brags that “our company does well…during times of stress”

ATLANTA — Today, a new AJC report revealed that at a time when over one million Georgians are now facing unemployment, unelected “political mega-donor” Senator Kelly Loeffler and her husband Jeff Sprecher’s company “landed record revenues and profits…fueled in part by volatility from the pandemic.” Loeffler’s husband bragged that the company – which owns the New York Stock Exchange — “does well and generates outsized profits during times of stress” — even if the rest of Georgia doesn’t.

Loeffler and Sprecher are already under scrutiny for their coronavirus stock trades that allowed them to potentially protect their portfolio during the pandemic. But over a month after their scandal broke, Loeffler still won’t clearly answer questions about “how her portfolio is managed and who does that work” as she refuses to call for a Senate Ethics Committee investigation.

“Once again, Senator Kelly Loeffler and her husband are looking out for themselves while Georgia families are hurting,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Loeffler and her husband already did well for themselves as a result of their coronavirus stock trades. But regardless of their financial maneuvers in this pandemic, Georgians are still struggling to find relief during this public health crisis.”
