Help Move Georgia Forward
ATLANTA — Today, the Democratic Party of Georgia released a new ad highlighting how Stacey Abrams’ upbringing shaped her ability to become a strong leader and work across the aisle to get things done. “Growing up we didn’t have much. But my family’s challenges showed me what’s possible,” Abrams says in the ad. “I’m running for governor because I believe we can continue the progress we’ve made by building each other up not by tearing each other down.”
The ad, “Faith,” can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/

“The politics of HOPE,” Maureen Downey, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, 3/21/2011
That doesn’t mean Democrats won no concessions in the battle over HOPE. Deal’s willingness to fund a 1 percent needs-based loan program, pay for remedial classes for HOPE grant recipients and restore full-day pre-k led House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams to not only vote for the governor’s bill, but to stand with Deal as he announced and signed it. … Abrams used her bargaining power to help persuade the governor to restore pre-k to full day, calling it an “incredible win for rural Georgia. What did we expect parents of 4-year-olds to do with their children at noon when they worked an hour away?” |

The tax overhaul failed, and on the campaign trail Abrams can credibly boast of having single-handedly stopped the largest tax increase in Georgia history. |
