In the first GOP gubernatorial primary debate, David Perdue and Brian Kemp continued their efforts to deceive voters and misrepresent their abhorrent records on issues impacting Georgians lives, livelihoods, and public safety. From “criminal carry,” to health care, education, and more, both candidates support harmful policies and oppose common sense solutions that could help improve lives across the state.

“Tonight’s GOP debate confirmed how extreme and harmful Brian Kemp or David Perdue would be as Georgia’s next governor. From their support for the dangerous “criminal carry” law and their plan to take taxpayer funds away from our schools and prevent students from learning a complete and accurate history of our country, to their refusal to expand Medicaid — if Perdue or Kemp are governor, Georgia will see more people suffering, more guns on our streets, and an education system that fails our kids. Perdue and Kemp’s willingness to risk lives, jobs, and our kids’ futures to support their own political careers affirms they’re more interested in serving themselves than the people of Georgia,” said Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
