After Gov. Brian Kemp reiterated his opposition to marriage equality, a new report from The Advocate highlights the risk Kemp poses to LGBTQ+ Georgians’ right to marry. As The Advocate reports, LGBTQ+ legislators are calling out Kemp as a threat to marriage equality and warning that the issue is at stake in November.
The report comes after Kemp said that he believes “marriage is between a man and a woman” and echoed comments from Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas suggesting that Supreme Court precedent protecting marriage equality should be reconsidered, saying marriage equality “will be something that the [US Supreme] court will have to take up.”
