Help Move Georgia Forward
Today, the Democratic Party of Georgia hosted a press conference in Atlanta to highlight President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, passed thanks to the leadership of Senators Ossoff and Reverend Warnock and Georgia’s six congressional Democrats. Georgia Democrats and Georgia AFL-CIO President Charlie Flemming highlighted how voters across the state are already seeing the positive impacts of this infrastructure package.
Speakers also emphasized how the infrastructure law will create thousands of good-paying union jobs, stimulate our economy, and revitalize our state’s roads, bridges, and highways — despite unanimous opposition from Georgia congressional Republicans and the entire GOP Senate field, including Herschel Walker.
“President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is delivering the investments metro Atlanta needs to pave our roads, fix our bridges, and create a safer community for all,” Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, said. “As we look ahead to 2022, delivering for Georgians isn’t just a winning message for Democrats — it’s a better path forward for our state, plain and simple. While Republicans will have to answer for why they oppose tax cuts, better roads and bridges, and lower costs for the middle class, President Biden and Democrats are showing Georgia voters exactly why they went to the polls and flipped this state in 2020 and 2021. And next year, we’ll show them again.”
“When President Biden was on the campaign trail here in Georgia, he told us that he would bring both sides of the aisle together and finally deliver new investments in infrastructure to our state. At the time, I even wondered if it was possible to accomplish something bipartisan. But the Biden-Harris administration put their money where their mouths were and delivered a historic economic package with support from Republicans and Democrats alike,” Charlie Flemming, President of the Georgia AFL-CIO, said. “I’ve been a labor activist for four decades, and I can tell you right now that President Biden has delivered the biggest boost to Georgia’s economy that I have ever seen with this infrastructure law. In addition to President Biden and Senator Ossoff, this would not be possible without the leadership of Senator Reverend Warnock. On behalf of unions across Georgia, we are incredibly grateful for President Biden and the leaders who pushed this legislation over the finish line for Atlanta and our state as a whole.”
“With President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we will be able to revitalize our infrastructure and break ground on new and exciting projects to strengthen and connect our communities like never before. So the question is: Why do Georgia Republicans oppose this popular, landmark legislation?” Congressman Hank Johnson said. “Herschel Walker and his fellow Republicans are standing against new jobs for Georgians. They’re standing against our economic growth. They’re standing against what’s best for our state. With the investments in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the President is delivering on his promise to build back better in every Georgia community. And finally, Georgia is going to reap the benefits we have awaited for so long.”
