Instead of Advertising on Grindr, Brian Kemp Should Drop Support for RFRA

ATLANTA – Today, following revelations that Brian Kemp is advertising on the gay dating site Grindr, the Democratic Party of Georgia called on Kemp to drop his support of RFRA, the discriminatory legislation that would devastate Georgia’s economy.

“Instead of cruising for votes on Grindr, Brian Kemp should stand up for LGBTQ Georgians and promote a strong economy by committing to veto RFRA — just as Nathan Deal did,” said Democratic Party of Georgia spokesman Seth Bringman.

Coinciding with the placement of Kemp for Governor Grindr ads, Kemp is hosting RFRA pioneer Mike Pence at a fundraiser this Thursday, which happens to be both National Coming Out Day and the eve of Atlanta Pride. Kemp should use this occasion to reject RFRA, which major Georgia employers have warned would kill jobs and send conventions, tourism, and film industry dollars to other states.

According to the Atlanta Metro Chamber of Commerce, Georgia stands to lose more than $1 billion in revenue if RFRA is enacted. More than 400 companies headquartered in Georgia oppose RFRA because it would be bad for the state’s economy and send the wrong message about Georgia.
