Republican Betty Price (relation) issues string of indecent remarks against Democrats

Release:  Monday, February 12, 2018

Atlanta, GA – Today, Georgia Democrats called on Georgia Representative Betty Price (R – Roswell) to resign from office after a series of offensive and tasteless attacks against former first lady Michelle Obama and other Democratic women.

From the AJC:

Price opened her remarks by saying she “borrowed heavily” from online sources to develop the list, and that they were “completely tongue in cheek.” She added, to laughs, “remember, in America, nobody has the right not to be offended.”

She then listed a string of “beautiful and smart” Republican women, that included NBC News anchor Megyn Kelly, former First Lady Laura Bush, ex-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and First Lady Melania Trump.

“The Democrats have Rachel Mad-cow,” a reference to MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, “Rosanne Barr, Rosie O’Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg, Michelle Obama, Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren, Madeleine Albright and of course Hillary Clinton.”

Later in her remarks, Price said that “liberal achievements include the invention of group therapy, the domestication of cats, group hugs and the evolution of their women to have higher testosterone levels than many of their men.”

“It’s quite sad that Betty Price has reduced herself to the kind of crass and classless remarks we’ve come to expect from Trump’s Twitter account. Price should follow her husband’s lead and resign from office in disgrace. District 48 deserves a representative who leads with decency and dignity.” – Michael Smith, Communications Director

Betty Price is no stranger to controversy. Just months ago, at a House study committee, Price asked if there was a legal way to quarantine Georgians with HIV. [AJC / 10/20/17]
