Georgia – The Democratic Party of Georgia and Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials (GABEO) are teaming up to honor the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides this Saturday, November 12.

The special luncheon will include Ambassador Andrew Young, Congressman David Scott, State Representative Tyrone Brooks, and several of Georgia’s own Freedom Riders. This group of brave individuals defied accepted practice by testing the interstate bus system’s segregation laws, often resulting in imprisonment, injury or both.

“These courageous individuals were truly freedom fighters,” said Page Gleason, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Five decades later, their contributions to our state remain incredibly important.”

The luncheon will be held at Paschal’s Restaurant at 180 Northside Drive in Atlanta from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, November 12. Sponsorship levels start at $1,000, with individual tickets priced at $100. GABEO members receive a 50% discount.
