Trump Jr.’s dangerous rally shows Trump campaign cares more about the election than protecting Georgians’ lives

ATLANTA – Georgians will be getting an up-close look at just how reckless Trump’s failed leadership on COVID-19 has been when Donald Trump Jr. holds a mass, in-person campaign rally in Savannah later today. This comes just one day after Eric Trump held a similar event with Brian Kemp that saw little social distancing and few masks.

“The Trump kids’ reckless in-person events this week are just another distraction from Donald Trump’s failed record of nearly 200,000 American lives lost and a crashing economy,” said Scott Hogan, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Trump is on tape admitting that he knew the dangers of the virus, but he refused to act to protect American lives and livelihoods, and now more than 6,000 Georgians have died. Don Jr. can try and spin this, but Georgia voters are fed up with this administration’s lies. And in November, Georgians will hold Trump accountable.”

Trump Jr.’s rally in Savannah today comes after months of failed leadership by Donald Trump and his administration, including knowingly misleading the public about the serious health risks this virus imposes. In response to Trump’s failures, Savannah local leadership, led by Mayor Van Johnson, has enacted public health responses including a city-wide mask order, to keep Georgians safe.
