GA Senate Dem Fort Responds to Martin Trial
Equates decision with modern day lynching
Atlanta, Ga. – July 14, 2013 – Georgia State Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta), issued
the following statement in the wake of the Trayvon Martin jury decision:
“Last night’s jury decision in the Trayvon Martin murder case was nothing less than
a modern day lynching. It is time for elected officials and activists to redouble
our efforts to create a just and fair society in Georgia and around the country.
We must revisit racial profiling and Stand Your Ground laws and we must fight for
common sense gun safety laws.”
Fort serves as the Whip for the Georgia Senate Democratic Caucus.
