Georgia – Democratic Party of Georgia Chairman Mike Berlon releases the following statement on the passing of Jesse Hill, Jr.

“Jesse Hill Jr. was a great man of business, politics, civil rights, and more. His life demonstrates a treasured skill in navigating some of Atlanta’s rockiest moments with wisdom and dignity.

“Jesse was instrumental in the development of MARTA, the desegregation of the University System of Georgia, and the success of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. His nearly two-decade career as the CEO of the Atlanta Life Insurance Company is a testament to his business savvy.

“Just this year, the Democratic Party of Georgia was pleased to watch Congressman John Lewis present a Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr. Hill at our latest Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. It was a moving experience for everyone.

“We offer our condolences to his family and friends. We know that his good works will live forever within the proud history of Atlanta.”
