Following Mike Pence’s visit to Atlanta today, Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Ellie Schwartz released the following statement:
“Mike Pence spent four years co-captaining Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda that left Georgians worse off. Now, he’s running to take their extreme record even further with a national abortion ban, privatizing Social Security, and putting Medicare on the chopping block. Georgians rejected the Trump-Pence agenda once and they’ll do it again in 2024.”
Here’s what you need to know about Mike Pence’s plans to take the Trump-Pence agenda even further:
- Pence was the first Republican to call for a national abortion ban after Roe was overturned, endorsed an extreme national ban that bans abortion before many women even know they’re pregnant, and says the “greatest accomplishment” of the Trump-Pence administration was appointing the justices who voted to overturn Roe.
- Every year they were in office, Mike Pence stood behind Donald Trump’s budget proposals that called to make cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Now, he’s repeatedly calling for privatizing Social Security.
- Pence has doubled down on the Trump-Pence tax cuts, which gave away billions of dollars to big corporations and the wealthiest Americans while leaving middle-class families behind.
