Democratic Party of Georgia Statement on May Jobs Numbers Report

Today, following news that since President Biden took office, Georgia’s unemployment numbers have reached a record-low and jobs numbers have reached an all-time high, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“Today’s record jobs report is yet another indicator that President Biden’s economic plan is getting Georgians back to work. Thanks to the Biden-Harris administration and Democrats’ work to pass the American Rescue Plan and restore our state’s economy, wages are up, jobs are up, and unemployment is at a historic low. While the president and Georgia Democrats recognize that there is more work to be done and are fighting to lower costs for Georgia families, Georgia Republicans have no plans to tackle costs, and every single Georgia Republican voted against measures to fight price gouging. Instead of working with Democrats to lower costs, the GOP’s only economic agenda would put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block and raise taxes for over 40% of Georgians.”
