Democratic Party of Georgia Applauds President Biden, Vice President Harris, Senators Ossoff and Warnock’s Historic First Year in Office

January 20, 2022

Today, the Democratic Party of Georgia celebrates the one-year anniversary of President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Senators Ossoff and Reverend Warnock taking office. Thanks to their leadership, hundreds of thousands of Georgians have gotten back to work, millions of Georgians have gotten vaccinated, and a new infrastructure package could create around 400,000 new jobs in Georgia alone over the next ten years.

In response to today’s historic anniversary, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“The first year of President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Senators Ossoff and Reverend Warnock’s leadership in office have been remarkable for Georgia. Just over a year ago, Georgia families were filled with uncertainty and fear, unemployment rates were skyrocketing, and less than one percent of Georgians were vaccinated. Now, thanks to the American Rescue Plan and no thanks to a single Georgia Republican, hundreds of thousands of Georgians have gotten back to work, millions of Georgians have been able to get vaccinated, and child poverty has dramatically dropped. And the president’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law could create hundreds of thousands more good-paying jobs in Georgia alone over the next ten years. These accomplishments have completely turned our state around and improved Georgians’ lives for the better.

“While there is still much work ahead, the past year has shown that the Biden-Harris administration, Senator Reverend Warnock, and Senator Ossoff are delivering above and beyond for Georgia families.”
