Former failed Senator David Perdue, who is weighing a challenge to Brian Kemp, made comments today decrying Georgia’s growing diversity and fanning the flames of conspiracy theories, previewing what would be a “scorched earth” GOP gubernatorial primary and race to the right.

In reference to lawmakers’ refusal to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 win in Georgia, Perdue said: “A lot of people feel like that people in power…caved in to a lot of things back in 2020 that didn’t have to be done.”

Perdue also commented: “I’m concerned about the state of our state…we have a lot of new people coming into Georgia, and we haven’t really taken care of our people the way that I think we should.”

“After being rejected by Georgia voters last year, it is pathetic that David Perdue is attempting to stay relevant by promoting conspiracies over truth and division over diversity,” said Rebecca Galanti, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Our state deserves leaders who are committed to serving all Georgians, not overturning our decisions at the ballot box and dividing us with “us-versus-them” rhetoric, which is why Georgians voted David Perdue out of office.”
