Labor Day means different things to different people.

To some, it’s recognition for working men and women, a day to relax with family and friends.

To others, it reaches back to the beginnings of the Labor Movement, where millions of workers stood up to assert their rights and band together for better working conditions.

And for some, including nearly half a million Georgians, it’s a reminder that there are still too many good citizens searching for an honest day’s work with a fair wage.

Next week, our President will unveil his job creation plan. Despite improvement, our economy still isn’t as strong as it needs to be. We must make Georgia work again.

Please remember the countless folks that are punching the clock today. If you get sick, there’s a doctor on call at the hospital, and if you’re hungry there’s a person waiting to take your order. Firefighters and police officers never truly get a day off. To all of those working today, thanks for all that you do.

After this holiday, Georgia Democrats will get back to business. I hope you’ll be a part of it. If you’d like to volunteer for our cause, simply send an email to mikeberlon@georgiademocrat.org.

Enjoy your Labor Day,

Mike Berlon
