U.S. Sen. Warnock held a town hall last night
As Georgia Republicans shrug off the pain the Trump-Musk agenda is inflicting on Georgians, Georgia Democrats like Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock are showing up. Yesterday, Senator Warnock held a virtual town hall where he took questions from Georgians all across the state worried about the Trump-Musk agenda and vowed to continue fighting for Georgians’ jobs, health, and livelihoods.
“I will continue to raise my voice because I understand the struggles of ordinary people,” Senator Warnock said last night. “And when I look at the billionaires who are pushing forward their agenda right now in Washington, forgive me, but in the words of Kendrick Lamar, ‘They’re not like us.’”
The National Republican Campaign Committee, fearful of negative public feedback about their agenda, implemented a “McCormick Rule” prohibiting their incumbents from holding town hall events following Georgia Congressman Rich McCormick’s disastrous town hall performance on February 20, 2025. At that event, McCormick received a hostile reception from constituents upset about mass firings of federal workers and Republican plans to drastically cut programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
This week, Rep. Mike Collins (GA-10) became the latest Georgia Republican caught avoiding his constituents, ignoring multiple events and meeting requests from Georgians concerned about his inability to stand up for them, even after boasting he would do so following McCormick’s shaky performance.
“I get the Republican strategy of ducking your constituents after so dramatically breaking a promise not to touch Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid,” said DPG spokesperson Ellie Schwartz. “Georgians are so grateful to have Senator Warnock’s voice representing us all.”
