As Georgia cattle producers push back on Trump’s ill-advised plan to import beef, Rick Jackson has refused to support them – just another example of how he will bend the knee to Trump every step of the way, even as his policies hurt our farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.
Keisha Lance Bottoms has made clear she stands with Georgia’s cattle producers, and called on Jackson to “join [her] in a bipartisan stance against this damaging policy for our producers.” But rather than stand up for these hardworking Georgians who put food on our tables, Jackson is turning a cold shoulder to their concerns.
Reporting on Jackson’s response to the bipartisan appeal, The Georgia Recorder’s Ross Williams writes, “A spokesman for Jackson’s campaign […] did not directly address Jackson’s position.”
“Where’s the beef, Rick? Georgia cattle producers deserve a governor who will stand up for them, not someone who will throw them under the bus just to prove his loyalty to Trump,” said Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Jake Strickland. “Yet again, Slick Rick is making it crystal clear that he’ll stand by Trump’s harmful policies, no matter how much they harm our farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.”
On the trail, Jackson has repeatedly said he’s running to be “Trump’s favorite governor” and “Trump with a Southern tone.” He gave Trump several million dollars to prove his MAGA loyalty, and he even admitted to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution earlier this year that he couldn’t think of a single Trump policy he disagrees with.
