Jackson and Trump can’t stop fawning over one another in this campaign
In an exclusive interview with Atlanta News First on Wednesday, Donald Trump fawned over fellow billionaire Rick Jackson, telling ANF reporter Abby Kousouris that Jackson “will be a supporter” of his agenda and that he “gave me a couple million dollars” throughout the campaign.
Shortly after, Jackson joined Trump on stage and admitted to his face that he’s running to be “Trump’s favorite governor” — the clearest sign yet he’ll always put Trump over Georgians.

When asked if Jackson will be a supporter of him “100 percent,” Trump admitted that Jackson “will be a supporter” – exactly what he wants as he attacks Georgia elections.
In the same interview, Trump spread his election conspiracy theories, saying that the 2020 election was “rigged” and doubling down on his support for undermining our democracy.
This comes as Rick Jackson has vehemently backed Trump’s attacks on our elections, with the AJC writing last week that Jackson has “echoed the president’s false claims of widespread election fraud” and POLITICO reporting that Jackson is “adamant” the 2020 election was stolen.
Trump also admitted that his support is driven by the fact that Jackson “has made a lot of money in the private sector,” which comes as Jackson has faced bipartisan questions and scrutiny for getting rich on the backs of taxpayers, including through no-bid state contracts, and has consistently bragged about profiting off policies taking money out of Georgians pockets.
Jackson and Trump’s bromance should come as no surprise, given how closely Jackson has aligned himself with the president throughout his campaign.
- Since the first very first days of his campaign, Jackson has consistently told voters that he will be “Trump’s favorite governor” and that he will be “Trump with a Southern tone.”
- Jackson has given Trump multiple $1 million donations to prove his loyalty to him, including as recently as last month.
- Jackson has made clear that he’ll govern “just like Trump,” and told the AJC that he “couldn’t name a single White House policy he disagrees with.”
