Jackson Staffer to Reporter: ‘That Wasn’t the Agreed-on Question’
Rick Jackson has dodged questions from the very start of his campaign – and Coastal Georgians saw this firsthand on his bus tour through the region this week.
As reported by The Current, Jackson literally ran away from reporters when asked what he sees as the top issues for Coastal Georgia.
As Sarah Harwell and Craig Nelson write, “The few people Jackson did not speak with during the event: reporters. When a journalist asked the candidate what he believes are the top issues for Coastal Georgia, a staff member hustled him to a waiting car, saying ‘that wasn’t the agreed on question.’”
Jackson’s dodging was also picked up by WSAV, who reported on-air that Jackson “was unable to talk to the media.”
This isn’t the first time Jackson has refused to level with Georgians about his record and policies. He skipped a critical GOP primary debate last month, and has refused to comment on issues of critical importance to Georgians.
“It’s no wonder that Rick Jackson’s handlers want to hide him in Bubble Wrap, since he can’t even answer a simple question about his priorities for Coastal Georgia. Slick Rick is spending his campaign running from reporters’ questions and refusing to answer how he’s gotten rich off Georgia taxpayers,” said Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Jake Strickland.
While Rick Jackson dodges questions, Keisha Lance Bottoms has made it a priority to share her vision with Georgians.
The contrast in this race couldn’t be any clearer: While Jackson dodges questions, Keisha Lance Bottoms has also been making several campaign stops throughout the region this week, speaking with voters and reporters about her vision to expand healthcare access in Georgia.
