Help Move Georgia Forward
Republicans have a plan that could raise taxes on over 40% of Georgians
Today is Tax Day, and Republicans want to talk about anything but the fact that the GOP has backed a plan that Herschel Walker and Georgia’s GOP Senate field will help pass if they win the midterm elections: raise taxes on 42.5% of Georgians, including many child care workers, teachers, first responders, and other working people across the Peach State. But Georgia Democrats won’t let voters forget that while Democrats are working to cut families’ costs and make sure billionaires pay their fair share without raising taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 a year, Republicans like Herschel Walker, Brian Kemp, David Perdue, and GOP candidates up and down the ballot are standing with their party’s plan to raise taxes on working families.
“Today is the last day for Georgians to file their taxes – and they deserve to know that if Republicans get their way, 42.5% of Georgians could see their taxes go up,” said Rebecca Galanti, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “The contrast is clear: While President Biden and Democrats have cut taxes for working families and laid out a plan to lower costs, Republicans are running on an agenda that would force you to pay more.”
