Today, Burt Jones announced a tele-rally with Donald Trump tonight – his latest attempt to show just how closely he has aligned himself with the president as he works to out-MAGA his opponents in what has become a brutal and bruising GOP primary fight in the race for governor. 

This comes as Jones has made his endorsement from Trump a central pitch of his campaign, and stood side-by-side with Trump earlier this year in Rome as the president mocked the affordability crisis and praised the illegal tariffs that have raised costs on Georgians. 

In response, Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Jake Strickland issued the following statement:

“Burt Jones has long been Trump’s #1 lapdog in Georgia, and tonight’s tele-rally just goes to show that he’s running for Donald Trump – not the people of Georgia.”
