Rick Jackson’s Campaign Clearly Unnerved by Bombshell AJC Reporting Showing How Jackson Personally Profits off a Broken Healthcare System
Rick Jackson’s team is freaking out over bombshell Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporting on how Jackson personally profits off our broken healthcare system — and it shows, with Jackson’s top communications strategist spiraling online this week about the fallout from the story.
In a late night Twitter post, Robinson went into full damage control mode over the AJC’s devastating report — a clear sign of just how worried the Jackson campaign is about their boss’ record of making money when the health care system fails.
It’s no surprise that Team Jackson is so upset. As reported by the AJC, Jackson’s hospital loan includes a predatory “14% interest rate – that increases to 19% if payment is missed,” along with “millions in other fees,” meaning Jackson will make more money if the hospital fails.
Throughout his campaign, Jackson has made it clear that he’s committed to protecting the same rigged system that has gotten him so rich. Despite making over a billion dollars in state healthcare contracts, Jackson staunchly opposes Medicaid expansion as Georgia’s refusal to expand Medicaid has caused nine rural hospitals to close and has thrown Georgia into a healthcare crisis.
Earlier this year, Jackson even admitted to supporting Trump’s budget law kicking 500,000 Georgians off healthcare because it lowered his own taxes, telling a voter: “If [Trump] hadn’t passed it—I’ll be honest with you—I’d be paying 40% more in taxes right now.”
“Rick Jackson’s team is clearly freaking about this bombshell reporting because they know their boss’ record of personally profiting off our broken healthcare system is radioactive with voters,” said Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Jake Strickland. “Just another example of how hard Jackson is fighting to protect the rigged system that has allowed him to continue making money hand over first on the backs of Georgia taxpayers.”
