Standing next to President Trump on Wednesday in Marietta, Rick Jackson said to the audience that he wants to “reduce affordability to the lowest it’s ever been.”
Fact check? True. Throughout this campaign, Jackson has pushed an extreme agenda that raises costs on Georgia families – even personally profiting off policies like Trump’s Big Ugly Bill and tariff tax increases that have taken money directly from Georgians’ pockets.

Jackson supports policies that are making life more expensive for Georgians.
- He admitted to supporting Trump’s Big Billionaire Bill because it lowered his taxes – even as it kicked 500,000 Georgians off their healthcare and caused premiums to spike by more than $860 a month on average for more than 1.4 million Georgians.
- He strongly supports Trump’s tariffs that have been a “gut punch” to Georgia small businesses because he profited off these policies. He has been silent on Trump’s latest tariffs on Canada, one of Georgia’s top trading partners.
- Despite making his fortune in part on state-funded healthcare contracts, Jackson opposes Medicaid expansion – a position which has driven up costs, made healthcare more inaccessible, and has caused nine rural hospitals to shut their doors since 2010.
- Jackson has revealed that he thinks bringing back the gas tax is the “right, prudent thing to do,” even as it jacks up gas prices for Georgians.
Jackson was promptly lambasted online for the incredibly out-of-touch remark.
It’s not surprising that Jackson supports cost-raising policies, given his close alignment with Trump’s agenda that has sent costs through the roof. At the event on Wednesday, Jackson stood side-to-side with Trump and proclaimed yet again that he is running to be “Trump’s favorite governor,” the starkest sign yet that he will always side with Trump over Georgians.
