Georgia Republican Congressman Rich McCormick (GA-07) continued to call for slashing Medicaid more drastically than the $880 billion in the Trump-backed Republican budget plan.
This comes on the heels of comments he made last week about the Trump-backed Republican budget plan, during which McCormick told News Nation, “we’re going to address Medicaid, but not really aggressively enough.”
McCormick isn’t the only Georgia Republican backing Medicaid cuts. Last week, “MAGA warrior” Buddy Carter said on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Politically Georgia that he’d “actually like to see more” than the $880 billion being slashed from Medicaid.
As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, the plan “could cause as many as 8.6 million people to lose their health insurance over the next decade” and has advocates concerned that it “could have big impacts for Georgia’s rural hospitals that rely on Medicaid for the bulk of their funding and are in danger of closing.”
“Rich McCormick has the same extremist views held by ‘MAGA warrior’ Buddy Carter when it comes to slashing health care protections millions of Georgians rely on,” said DPG Chair Charlie Bailey. “Like Buddy Carter, Rich McCormick is willing to say, and do, anything his extremist party leaders want.”
