Tonight, Rep. Buddy Carter voted to gut Medicaid, threatening health care for Georgia kids and families.

Rep. Carter voted for the House Republican budget, which is projected to slash Medicaid by $2.04 billion for the 162,872 Georgians in the 1st Congressional District who rely on Medicaid for life-saving health care and medicine.

In response to Rep. Carter voting to gut health care for his constituents, DPG spokesperson Ellie Schwartz released the following statement:

In Georgia, sixty-seven percent of Medicaid recipients are children, half of all childbirths are covered by Medicaid, and three-quarters of seniors in nursing homes rely on Medicaid. Rep. Carter’s vote to gut Medicaid is a shameful vote against the health of his own constituents.”
