As costs continue to climb and businesses continue to cut jobs, Rick Jackson fully supports Trump’s tariff tax increases – and has even admitted that his support for these cost-raising policies is driven by the fact that he personally profited off Trump’s tariffs by shorting the stock market on “Liberation Day” last year.

When asked about Trump’s tariff policies by a voter in Thomasville earlier this year, Jackson replied: “The stock market went down last April when Trump announced [tariffs]. I went and bought options on the day that happened because I knew that was crazy and made an 80% return in four weeks.”

That’s right: Rick Jackson made money off the very same policies that were taking money directly out of Georgians’ pockets.

“Rick Jackson is personally profiting off the very same tariff tax increases that are jacking up costs and making life so hard for small business owners across our state,” said Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Jake Strickland. “It’s clear that Jackson is just another billionaire insider who’s more concerned with padding his bottom line than supporting small businesses – and that’s exactly why we’re going to reject his harmful agenda come November.”

As a reminder, Jackson just loves to brag about the multiple ways he gotten rich off Georgia families.

  • Despite getting rich off $1 billion in healthcare government contracts, Jackson strongly opposes Medicaid expansion, even as it has resulted in the closure of nine rural hospitals all across Georgia since 2010.
  • When asked about the Big Ugly Bill that stripped 500,000 Georgians of healthcare, Jackson admitted supporting this bill because it lowered his taxes.
  • When asked about high gas prices, Jackson boasted about investing in an oil refinery – admitting to profiting off pain at the pump even as he defends bringing back the gas tax.
  • When asked about data centers, Jackson revealed that he invested in a data center and that his financial stake guided his support for them.
