A new brutal anti-Burt Jones ad from the mysterious group Georgians for Integrity is hitting the airwaves as part of a nearly $5 million ad campaign targeting Jones’ record of self-enrichment in office and further upending the chaotic and messy Republican gubernatorial primary.
The ad, titled “Pay Day,” goes after Burt Jones for putting himself above the needs of Georgians – including voting to increase his taxpayer-funded pension 40 percent and using eminent domain to seize land from Georgians to enrich himself and his family.

Earlier this month, the AJC reported how the secretive group Georgians for Integrity was spending $1 million on an ad hitting Burt Jones for padding his own pockets. The announcement rattled the Republican candidates and caused intense fighting, with Jones’ campaign calling his rivals “Never-Trumpers [who] can’t gain traction because they’re wrong on virtually every issue Republican voters care about.”
Jones has long faced questions about his self-dealing in public office, and at the heart of these ads is a law that Jones himself pushed which would give him and his family a massive pay day from the construction of 13 “mammoth” data centers. The project is immersed in controversy, with the Georgia Recorder reporting community members’ deep concerns over how much water and electricity it will use.
