HB960 Would Put This Year’s Election in Jeopardy!

The Georgia State Senate will vote on a significant voting and elections bill (HB960) this Friday, March 27! We’ve seen this bill before and if passed, it would put tremendous strain and pressure on our county elections offices to transition to pre-printed paper ballots before this November’s midterm elections.

If passed, this bill also requires:

  • Civil fines if County BREs don’t “properly remove” challenged voters
  • An increase for the automatic recount threshold to 1% (from .5%)
  • A manual hand recount after certification of elections for federal contests and certain state constitutional officers
  • The State Election Board to oversee county and municipality audits and risk limiting audits (while expressly forbidding the SOS from having any role overseeing these audits)
