New Video Spotlights GOP Senate Candidates’ Extreme Anti-Abortion Positions Ahead of Dobbs Decision Anniversary

June 23, 2025

Ahead of the third anniversary of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, the Democratic Party of Georgia released a new video highlighting the devastating effects of Georgia’s abortion ban and the extreme anti-abortion agenda of GOP candidates running for and considering campaigns for U.S. Senate, including “MAGA warrior” Rep. Buddy Carter, Commissioner John King, and Rep. Mike Collins.

What to Know:

  • Right now, Georgia has the “toughest abortion ban in the country” which has put doctors at risk of felony charges and led to the deaths of Georgia women.
    • Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Georgia has been subject to an extreme abortion ban after six weeks put in place by Republican Governor Brian Kemp – before most women even know they are pregnant.
  • As a result of this draconian law, women in Georgia are already being investigated and arrested for having miscarriages.
  • Now, Georgia is one of the worst states for abortion access in the country, and multiple women have died as a result.
  • Despite the devastating consequences of Georgia’s ban, Republicans running for Senate and those considering it continue to push a dangerous, anti-abortion agenda that would further rip away reproductive freedom:
    • Senate candidate and “MAGA warrior” Rep. Buddy Carter:
      • In Congress, Carter cosponsored the Life at Conception Act — a federal abortion ban with no exceptions — three times.
      • Carter celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
      • Carter praised the state’s extreme abortion ban, even though it criminalizes women and doctors.
    • Senate candidate Insurance Commissioner John King:
      • King vocally supported the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
    • Rep. Mike Collins, a MAGA extremist who is reportedly considering a Senate run:
      • In Congress, Collins cosponsored the Life at Conception Act —a federal abortion ban with no exceptions — twice.
      • Collins has consistently been endorsed and supported by anti-abortion organizations, including the organization that wrote the state’s extreme abortion ban.
  • Other Republicans who have been rumored to potentially jump in the race like Rep. Rich McCormick, Rep. Brian Jack, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper and State Senator Greg Dolezal are all anti-abortion extremists who have gone on the record to support anti-abortion legislation, stood by Georgia’s extreme abortion ban, and praise the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
