Today, the Democratic Party of Georgia released a new video, “Roll the Tape,” spotlighting right wing radio’s takedown of failed and fired former Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley in the days after he launched his U.S. Senate campaign.
These hits come as coverage of Dooley’s campaign launch last week was quickly dominated by mentions of his “disastrous” coaching record, which sports writers, experts, observers — and even his Republican opponents — agreed was “widely seen as a failure” due to his “legendary incompetence.”

- [ERIC VON HAESSLER, WSB-AM] “Everything I’ve read about him doesn’t seem all that impressive. He was the head coach for the Tennessee Volunteers.”
- [JARED YAMAMOTO, WSB-AM] “Terrible football coach.”
- [ERIC VON HAESSLER, WSB-AM] “That program tries to pretend those years never even happened.”
- [TIM BRYANT, WGAU-AM] “He frankly failed as a football coach.”
- [STEVE GILL, The Todd Starnes Show] “I hope he campaigns better than he coached.”
- [NANCY BABBITT, The John Fredericks Show] “Oh, isn’t he the one that coached every other team in the SEC, but never in Georgia? And oh, isn’t he the one with the losing record?”
- [JIM WOGAN, WATE 6] “Last minute losses would become a Dooley trademark.”
