Eric Von Haessler: “Collins is a dirt bag to do this.”

Today, the Democratic Party of Georgia released a new video titled “Dirtbag Deepfake” highlighting the widespread backlash Mike Collins is facing from right-wing radio hosts and leaders after releasing a desperate deepfake video to mislead Georgians.

Collins’ “misstep” has resulted in even more infighting in an already “combustible” GOP primary for Georgia’s U.S. Senate seat after failed and fired former Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley seized on the opportunity by mocking Collins for “shooting himself in the foot” with the desperate attack.

“While Mike Collins pathetically tries to mislead Georgians, no amount of distortion can hide his record of voting to rip away health care, doubling ACA premiums, and putting Georgia jobs on the chopping block,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Senior Communications Advisor Devon Cruz.

  • [SHELLEY WYNTER, WSB–AM] “I want to talk about Collins, Mike Collins. Senate candidate Mike Collins’ AI video… another misstep. I would honestly say this is another misstep by the campaign.”
  • [SHELLEY WYNTER, WSB–AM] “Like you just can’t stand on the ideas? Why would you do this? … and it shows kind of, I would say, the immaturity of this campaign.”
  • [ERIC VON HAESSLER, WSB-AM] “Collins is a dirtbag to do this.”
  • [ERIC VON HAESSLER, WSB-AM] “It’s just about power. You understand that Mike Collins, right? You dirtbag.”
  • [ERIC VON HAESSLER, WSB-AM] “I mean, Mike Collins deserves anything he gets off of AI by doing this.”
  • [LORI GEARY, WSB-TV] “Martha, is this a slippery slope here with AI?”
  • [MARTHA ZOLLER, THE MARTHA ZOLLER SHOW HOST]: “Yeah I don’t like it, and none of my listeners have liked it. Everybody has said it was a bad idea.”
  • [JENNY BETH MARTIN, PRESIDENT TEA PARTY PATRIOTS] “The way that I look at these things is how would I feel if somebody did this to me? And I would be offended by that ad.”
