Jackson Has Profited Off Policies that Hurt Northwest Georgia Communities
Today, Georgia Democrats joined together ahead of Rick Jackson’s appearance at the Floyd GOP’s Tillman Rally to call out Rick Jackson for being the ultimate insider and using his vast fortune and influence to push policies that boost his bottom line at the expense of Georgians.
Democratic CD-14 nominee Shawn Harris, Rome City Commissioner Elaina Beeman, HD-12 Democratic nominee Dr. Vincent Mendes, and HD-13 Democratic nominee Holly Chaney highlighted how Jackson has enriched himself all while supporting an agenda that would devastate Northwest Georgia communities.
Here’s what they had to say about Jackson’s long record of profiting off policies that hurt northwest Georgia communities:
Shawn Harris: “Jackson makes himself out to be an outsider, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. He’s made money off the backs of Georgia taxpayers, and now he thinks he can just swoop in and buy our vote. And while Rick Jackson pledges that he’s running to be Donald Trump’s favorite governor, I’ve never heard him say that he wanted to be Georgia’s favorite. We need a governor that will truly fight for us, not for profit or prestige.”
Elaina Beeman: “The last thing we need is a billionaire insider calling the shots and boosting his bottom line at the expense of hardworking families. He seriously opposes Medicaid expansion, even as he’s gotten rich off of health care. That’s hypocrisy at its highest, and is exactly why we need Keisha Lance Bottoms in November.”
Dr. Vincent Mendes: “As a healthcare professional, I find it offensive that Rick Jackson has enriched himself off the same healthcare system that has failed so many Georgians, and it’s worse than that. […] He strongly opposes Medicaid expansion, even though that has caused the closure of nine rural hospitals – and what that means is, while he’s made billions of dollars, your kids and your grandkids can’t get their doctor visits paid for.”
Holly Chaney: “That Big Ugly Bill last year devastated our state, putting jobs on the chopping block and kicking 500,000 Georgians off their health care. But when a concerned voter asked him where he stood on it, he said he supported it simply because it lowered his own taxes. That’s just shameful, but not surprising, given that Trump’s budget law was written precisely to benefit billionaires, insiders like Jackson – at the expense of Georgia working families.”

- Despite getting rich off $1 billion in healthcare government contracts, Jackson strongly opposes Medicaid expansion, even as it has resulted in the closure of nine rural hospitals all across Georgia since 2010.
- When asked about the Big Ugly Bill that stripped 500,000 Georgians of healthcare, Jackson admitted supporting this bill because it lowered his own taxes.
- When asked about high gas prices, Jackson boasted about investing in an oil refinery – admitting to profiting off pain at the pump even as he defends bringing back the gas tax.
He’s also made his deep Trump ties a central part of his campaign – yet more proof that’s nothing a slimy insider looking to further rig the system.
- Since the first very first days of his campaign, Jackson has consistently told voters that he will be “Trump’s favorite governor” and that he will be “Trump with a Southern tone.”
- Jackson has given Trump multiple $1 million donations to prove his loyalty to him, including as recently as June.
- Jackson has made clear that he’ll govern “just like Trump,” and told the AJC that he “couldn’t name a single White House policy he disagrees with.”
