Today, the Courier Georgia reported that Judge Trenton Brown, the Georgia Court of Appeals judge who effectively ended Fulton County’s prosecution of Donald Trump’s election interference based on “an appearance of impropriety”, has a significant appearance of impropriety of his own: Brown fundraised for his re-election campaign from one of Trump’s co-conspirators and lawyers of other co-conspirators who currently have a case before Brown and the Court of Appeals.

The coverage reports that Bob Cheeley, one of Trump’s co-conspirators, hosted a major fundraiser for Brown’s reelection campaign alongside lawyers for other co-conspirators — despite the fact that these individuals have a case in front of Brown and the Court of Appeals related to their efforts to seek millions of dollars in taxpayer money for the very case that Brown effectively ended.

In response, DPG Judicial Campaigns Manager Maggie Chambers said, “Trenton Brown’s hypocrisy is impossible to ignore: he has repeatedly lectured others about the ‘appearance of impropriety,’ yet he accepted money from people with direct financial interests before his court. Judges like Brown are why Georgians have lost faith in our judicial system, and it’s why on Tuesday they will elect Will Wooten — who believes in enforcing the law without fear or favor for the wealthy and powerful — to the Court of Appeals.”
