As the GOP gubernatorial candidates continue racing to the right, new reporting from the AJC shows just how extreme and out-of-touch billionaire Rick Jackson really is with Georgians.
In an eyebrow-raising interview, Jackson staked out a number of positions that are deeply unpopular among Georgia voters:
- Jackson shared that he opposes Medicaid expansion, which has resulted in the closure of nine rural hospitals in Georgia since 2010 and worsened the state’s health care crisis.
- Talking about Georgia’s extreme abortion ban, Jackson said: “I’m entirely pro life. I support the bill we have here. As governor, I wouldn’t change a thing, one way or the other.”
- Jackson also “couldn’t name a single White House policy he disagrees with,” even as Trump’s budget bill is causing Georgians’ monthly health care premiums to surge by more than $860 on average, and tariff tax increases are forcing Georgia families to spend more than $1,200 to keep up with the skyrocketing cost of living.
Jackson now joins the entire GOP field in opposing Medicaid expansion and supporting DC Republicans’ cost-raising agenda that is worsening the affordability crisis for hard-working Georgia families.
