After peaceful protesters were tear-gassed for a Trump photo op, Georgia Republicans refuse to hold Trump accountable for his disgraceful behavior

ATLANTA — As President Donald Trump continues using inflammatory rhetoric following the tear-gassing of peaceful protesters for his photo-op in front of a church, Georgia’s Republican Senate contenders still refuse to hold Trump accountable for his reckless actions amid nationwide protests against violence against Black Americans.

Both Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler have refused to comment on whether Trump’s rhetoric and actions against peaceful protesters are appropriate.

Meanwhile, Congressman Doug Collins instead has chosen to openly praise Trump, saying in a Fox News interview, “the president is standing strong.”

Despite bipartisan criticism of Trump’s actions, Georgia Republicans still won’t speak out on the president’s failed leadership at this pivotal moment.

“All Americans have a right to peaceful protest — and all elected officials should be willing to stand up to protect that right. Instead, Georgia Republicans would rather protect their political careers at this critical time for our country and our state as Americans protest for an end to systemic injustice and violence against Black lives,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia.
