LISTEN: Rep. Mike Collins Calls for Georgians to “Get Off” Social Security and Medicaid

June 6, 2025

Rep. Mike Collins, who just voted for deep cuts to Georgians’ health care: People should “get off of Medicaid, get off of Social Security

Rep. Mike Collins — who is reportedly weighing a run for U.S. Senate — said he wants to make it “more advantageous” for people to “get off of Medicaid, get off of Social Security,” in an interview on XTRA 106.3 yesterday. This comes after Collins voted for the GOP budget bill that could leave 750,000 Georgians uninsured.

The latest Congressional Budget Office analysis found that the GOP’s budget bill would increase the deficit by $2.4 trillion and rip away health care from 10.9 million Americans.

“Mike Collins’ message to Georgia’s retirees is clear: Get off Social Security and get off Medicaid,” said Devon Cruz, Senior Communications Advisor at the Democratic Party of Georgia. “As Georgia Republicans continue to audition for Trump’s endorsement for Senate, they’re revealing to voters just how damaging and out of touch their agenda is for working families.”
