Tonight, with results in from the Senate District Special Election, DPG Chair Charlie Bailey released the following statement:
“The Democratic Party of Georgia congratulates LeMario Brown on his courageous campaign and overperformance in the Senate District 18 Special Election runoff. LeMario forced Republicans into a runoff in a deep-red district that voted for Donald Trump by 22 points and put up a 3-point Democratic overperformance—a margin greater than the one by which Donald Trump won the state in 2024. With an overperformance of that size statewide this fall, Democrats would flip Georgia.
“Warning lights are flashing for Georgia Republicans: they are consistently underperforming, even in extremely ‘safe’ rural red districts like SD 18. While they struggle to defend their toxic agenda of sky-high costs, health care cuts, and billionaire handouts, Democrats will continue to build unstoppable momentum to deliver leadership in 2026 that puts working families first.”
