Today, in the Atlanta Press Club’s debate for Georgia’s second congressional district, GOP nominee Chris West lied when pressed on his extreme no-exceptions stance on abortion. West also espoused debunked claims of widespread voter fraud, even failing to say that Joe Biden won the state of Georgia in 2020.

When West’s radical abortion stance – banning all abortion without exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother – was repeated back to him, West said: “That’s not true.” The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer’s Nick Wooten, who first reported West’s extreme stance in June, pushed back in real time and set the record straight.

When asked if there was widespread voter fraud that changed the outcome of the election, West responded: “I really don’t know.”

  • When asked if Joe Biden won Georgia in 2020, West refused to affirm that Joe Biden won the state of Georgia.

“Today, voters in Georgia’s second congressional district saw a clear contrast – between Chris West’s support for a total abortion ban with no exceptions and refusal to even say that Joe Biden won Georgia in 2020, and Rep. Sanford Bishop’s commitment to rural communities and proven track record of fighting for Middle and Southwest Georgia,” said Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Ryan Radulovacki.
