Carter previously praised DOGE, which made devastating cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs

As the GOP works to force their disastrous budget bill through Congress, GOP U.S. Senate candidate and “MAGA warrior” Rep. Buddy Carter made an edit to a post on X that accidentally revealed that veterans’ health care programs, benefits, and VA programs would not be fully funded.

In case you missed it:

  • First, Carter tweeted that the House GOP’s budget would “fully fund” crucial veteran’s assistance programs.
  • A few minutes later, Carter quietly edited his post to remove the word “fully” — admitting that he actually voted not to fully fund these critical programs.
  • This comes after Carter previously admitted that he “wanted to cut Medicaid more,” and after he recently called to “codify” DOGE cuts — like those at the Department of Veterans Affairs that would “delay care” for veterans in Georgia.

“Even ‘MAGA warrior’ Buddy Carter knows he cannot hide from the fact that the GOP’s dangerous budget bill would have devastating effects for veterans in Georgia,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Senior Communications Advisor Devon Cruz. “From affordable health care to veterans programs, Carter and Georgia Republicans cannot ever be trusted to do what’s right for Georgians.”
