Help Move Georgia Forward
Today, the Democratic Party of Georgia hosted a virtual press conference highlighting the passage of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal thanks to the leadership of Senators Ossoff and Reverend Warnock and Georgia’s six congressional Democrats. During the event, speakers discussed how the package will create thousands of good-paying union jobs, stimulate our economy, and revitalize our state’s roads, bridges, and transportation — despite unanimous opposition from Georgia congressional Republicans and the GOP Senate field, including Herschel Walker.
Speakers during the press conference also emphasized how the Build Back Better framework is overwhelmingly popular with Georgia voters and will fundamentally transform the lives of millions of Georgians across this state for the better. While Georgia Republicans go to bat for corporations and the ultra-wealthy, Democrats are moving forwards with the Build Back Better framework to help everyday Georgians get back on track, reward work not wealth, and build a fair economy that works for everyone.

“Finally, after years of all-talk and no action from Republicans in Washington and Georgia alike, the Biden-Harris administration, Senators Ossoff and Reverend Warnock, and Georgia Democrats are delivering for our state. This historic package will create thousands of good-paying union jobs, stimulate our economy, and revitalize our state’s roads, bridges, and transportation – leaving no Georgia community behind,” said Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Every Republican candidate vying to challenge the Reverend next year – including Herschel Walker – is against this job-creating, road-fixing, economy-boosting package. Thankfully, Senators Ossoff, Warnock, and Georgia’s six House Democrats worked to deliver this for our state. That’s why at every new ribbon cutting, every new job ceremony, and every new project that is built thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, we are going to remind voters that while Georgia Republicans tried to block Georgia’s economic future, President Biden and Georgia Democrats delivered.”
“As Executive Director of the Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council, I see three main things that this infrastructure bill is going to bring home to our workers: Jobs, jobs, and jobs. We’re going to see thousands of good-paying, high-quality jobs reach Georgia thanks to this infrastructure bill. Across the country, these investments will add, on average, nearly two million jobs per year over the course of the decade. That is a generational boost to our economy,” said Sandra Williams, Executive Director of the Atlanta-North Georgia Labor Council. “Republicans have talked a big game about infrastructure for years, but while President Biden and Georgia Democrats are actually delivering, not a single Georgia Republican voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill.”
Toomsboro Mayor Joyce Denson prepared the following remarks:
“For far too long, small towns have suffered from a severe lack of infrastructure investments — especially majority Black towns. Today, my own difficulties with connecting to the internet were an example of how urgently rural Georgia needs investments in broadband. But President Biden’s infrastructure bill is exactly what towns and cities in what we call the Black Belt need to get back on their feet.”
“With no interstate route crossing Columbus to Augusta, many rural and low-income communities across Middle Georgia have been left behind from the economic development other areas with highways have seen over the years. But President Biden and Senator Reverend Warnock have brought both Democrats and Republicans together to finally make progress on what will be a huge economic boost to our area.
“Senator Reverend Warnock worked to ensure that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill designates Interstate 14 as a ‘high priority corridor,’ secured almost $9 billion of new funds for roads, bridges, and major projects, and reauthorized the surface transportation program for the next five years. This will change the lives of thousands of Georgians and build a new generation of jobs and business opportunities right here in Middle Georgia.
“With the investments in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, the President is delivering on his promise to build back better in every Georgia community.”
