Today’s the day of the Atlanta Press Club Republican run-off debate. With Rick Jackson dodging the debate because he’s too afraid to answer questions, Burt Jones will have the stage all to himself.

Here’s just a few questions that Jones must answer for Georgia voters:

  1. Does Jones support Trump’s $1.8 billion slush fund for cop beaters and January 6 insurrectionists – and what’s more, does he think he is entitled to taxpayer-funded restitution for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia?
  • Jones has long been Trump’s #1 lapdog in Georgia, and he went as far to serve as a fake elector to try and overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.
  • With Trump creating a taxpayer-funded slush fund for those involved in election denial efforts, Georgians deserve to know if Jones will benefit from this fund.
  • For his part, Jackson said that he can’t “name a single White House policy he disagrees with” and is “adamant” on the campaign trail that the 2020 election was stolen – but has yet to answer whether he supports Trump’s slush fund.
  1. Jones’ record of using a wide range of schemes to benefit himself and his family at the expense of taxpayers has been a major issue in this race. How can Georgians trust him to make the right decision for them, not his bottom line?
  • Jones and Jackson have spent months and months attacking each other over accusations of corruption and self-enrichment in public office.
  • Even Republicans have called out Jones for weaponizing the legislative session and killing the bills of legislators who opposed his campaign for governor. He’s also received bipartisan criticism for changing state law to support the development of a massive data center project — which also benefits his family’s business.
  • For his part, Rick Jackson has been accused of getting rich off no-bid state contracts and perpetuating a Medicare fraud scheme through his company.
  1. Jones is heir to the multi-million dollar Jones Petroleum Company and has strongly supported Trump’s war in Iran. Can Georgians really believe that he’ll work to lower gas prices?
  • Trump single-handedly caused gas prices to spike, but Jones continues to praise the president, telling 11Alive recently, “[…] I trust President Trump and what he’s doing over there in Iran.”
  • With Jones being the heir to a massive petroleum company – and with his standing by Trump despite gas prices surging – Georgians want to know if they can really believe he’ll do everything in his power to lower gas prices.
  • Jackson has dodged questions about high gas prices on the campaign trail. He admitted to being the “largest outside investor” of a newly announced oil refinery in Texas – which comes as oil companies are making huge profits off Trump’s Iran War, while Georgians pay more at the pump.
  1. More than 500,000 Georgians have lost health insurance since Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill was enacted. Jones and Jackson supported the bill, what do they say to the hundreds of thousands of Georgians who can’t afford health care?
  • Jones strongly supported Trump’s Big Beautiful that jacked up healthcare costs and kicked hundreds of thousands of Georgians off their insurance. He also opposed Medicaid expansion, favoring Kemp’s Pathways proposal instead – a shoddy plan that does not come closer to providing Georgians with coverage.
  • As more than a half a million Georgians have lost their ACA coverage – and 1.4 million others are paying more than $860 more in monthly premiums – Georgians want to know if Jones has a real plan to bring down Georgians’ healthcare costs.
  • Rick Jackson strongly supports Trump’s Beautiful Bill and has made it clear he opposes Medicaid expansion, even as nine rural hospitals have closed all across Georgia as a result.
