Today, several Georgia mothers gathered to speak out against the devastating cuts enacted in the GOP’s recently signed budget bill, and slam the GOP U.S. Senate candidates and potential candidates that supported the bill despite the harm it would bring to Georgia.
The mothers gathered to speak about the bill’s cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, special education funding, and more and how that will impact them and their families.

Teresa Acosta, small business owner and mother of three: “With the cuts being made to the Affordable Care Act and to Medicaid, I’m closing my business, because our health care costs will be so much higher, probably three times as much on premiums, increased co-pays, and I’m expecting my son’s diabetes supplies to also increase dramatically.”
Lola Green, disabled veteran and mother of an autistic son: “I’ve served this great country, but I worry about my son and I’m worried about other families who are hurting for access to health care. I wake up every day in this great nation and I believe that we can do better.”
Gloria Jenkins, mother of two and a senior on Medicare: “Seniors, as we go through our careers, we work really hard putting money into these federal programs such as Medicare, thinking that when we retire, at least, we will have that to fall back on and help us live. But as it’s working now with the current administration Medicare and Medicaid are just being torn apart.”
